A Note from Eden,
Our Founder
Many people love our name, and it is indeed inspired by my cat, Ezra, who always finds his way onto my yoga mat. He is deeply loved, and his quiet companionship is something I treasure. Anyone with a pet knows the significance of their unwavering, silent love. As Ezra grew, I noticed myself longing to be more like him—to move freely, stretch curiously, and simply enjoy it, without needing to earn it. It is him we owe our name to.
Cat on The Mat was created for both me and you. For me, it was once just an idea—now a reality—of a calm and genuine way of working. After experiencing cancer at the start of my adult life, I wanted work that would not only support me but also bring something good to others. My slower pace led me to yoga, where I found a community of kind individuals and a practice that allowed me to move without a goal, breathe safety back into my body, and find peace with chronic illness.
For you, Cat on The Mat is a physical extension of what I have learned—that life can be simpler, calmer, and kinder. While opening this studio is deeply meaningful to me, it exists for the community. It is my way of giving back—to Kew, my first adult home, and to the practice of yoga, my first true sanctuary. I hope it becomes a loved part of this neighbourhood, known for its honesty, tranquillity, and the meaningful connections it nurtures.
Above all, I hope Cat on The Mat makes you feel seen, safe, and inspired, both on and off your mat. In a world that is always changing, this is my gift to you—a space of consistency and comfort, where you are free to be exactly as you are. Come with curiosity—you may find something illuminating where you least expect it.
Move with curiosity,
Eden x
